OPIS WYDARZENIA
The line-up is a result of musical explorations centring around trance, electronic dance music or extreme, non-normative variations of jazz and improvised music, the culmination of which was ALAMEDA’s debut album „Duch Tornada”. It earned many rave reviews and the journalists of Noise Magazine hailed it as the second best Polish albumof the years 2001-2016.
Since then, the group’s music has evolved towards further exploration of African and Latin American rhythms, early fusion music in the spirit of Miles Davis, post-punk and postminimalism, resulting in the second album of the quintet titled „Eurodrome” being released by Instant Classic at the beginning of 2019. The album was ranked eleventh on the list of the best albums of the world published by the prestigious magazine The Quietus.
In 2020, a reedition of the album, titled „Eurodrome+”, was released. It included a few remixes by some guest artists. Alameda 5 have played dozens of concerts, always met with enthusiastic reception of their public.
On their new album ||ALA|MEDA|| continues the path taken on their previous release „Spectra. Vol.1” (Brutality Garden, 2022) striving for greater concretization of modern African and Latin American influences (gqom, kuduro), creatively transformed in the spirit of experimental rhythm music, with which the band has always been associated. New album brings six maximally intensive tracks, in which complex and syncopated grooves and polyrhythms are woven into rich textures of contemporary electronic sound, providing an original and explosive version of modern dance music, which is equally focused on exploring new and unique sound qualities as well as offering powerful and direct experiences associated with trance, body, movement and expression of live music.
